Albertine General

Located on the heart of the West Village, this shop is a gem in the city. Albertine General is Kyung Lee's third shop in the area and carries a unique selection of jewelry created by mostly local and up-and-coming artists. A mix of jewelry, antique finds and art objects, the shop is located where the former Oscar Wilde bookshop used to be. Unmissable. If you are fascinated like I am by shops that have an interesting and clever selection of things, plus crazy amazing jewelry, then this is for you.

Improvd/dress/mom's/1978

IMPROVD designer Valentino Vettori has presented me with two beautiful pieces from his current collection. I love the palette of colors, which include black, grey, nude, white and aqua.
One of the pieces is this silk and georgette one-shoulder dress pictured below, which I wore with earrings that my mom bought in 1978 and bag from a vintage shop in London.

jewelry/antique/flee market/finds

All the jewelry here are finds from flee markets around the world. Shooting for the editorial in which I wore this, I tried to beg/buy/borrow the jewelry without any success. They were mostly the stylist's private collection. I love the ring with the antique picture on my left hand.

Rosebud

This "rosary" is the number one item on my wish list at the moment.
With little silver rosebuds along the chain and a sword pendant, I think this is truly amazing.

Carolina/ring/boutique/loveliness

This post is a homage to my friend Carolina Bittencourt, who's loveliness is translated to the beautiful jewelry she has been creating. Reading her website www.boutiquemc.com , I was enchanted by pictures of the 2 rings she has designed and made herself (pictured below). They are both super sweet and have somehow, a vintage feel.
Carol, I wish you all the success in the world, your jewelery is amazing and I can't wait to see more pieces!

Nicole

I'm sure that after this post some people will ask me: where have you been?!
Don't know, and I can"t believe I have never heard of Jewelry Designer Nicole Romano before.
 It was about time!
Shooting for Crystal Jin swimwear brochure, stylist Jamie Grace stunned me with the beautiful jewelry by Nicole that he brought along.
Nicole designs beautiful and elegant pieces that make a statement. The NYC based designer doesn't follow trends, she creates them.

S.M.I.L.E

It has been a mad few weeks, I went to Brazil to see my family and friends and since last week I have been in NYC, which will be my home for the summer.
Since I got here, I have walked all over town, either to get things for the house, to go on appointments or even to yoga, and there is one thing I've noticed.
I love jewelry (I'm writing "jewelry" the American way for the summer) and everybody knows it by now, so one thing I pay attention to in places I go is what the trend is, what  people wear, etc...
There is no way I wouldn't realize that we are in the midst of an "Initial Craze".
They are everywhere and everybody is wearing it. Little gold medals/charms with engraved initials hanging from a thin chain. Some are simple and simply have the metal marked, others have diamonds set and the list goes on. Some are wearing their own initials whilst others have full words on show.
Either way, a lovely touch to our everyday looks.
Below, a few pictures from pendants made by NYC based designer Helen Ficalora, whose shop is located at 21 Cleveland Place, NY 10012 and website is: www.helenficalora.com

Another thing worth mentioning is that Helen Ficalora has on sale special charms with words like "smile" and"care" engraved on it, and 25% of the profits go to organizations like Jacob's Cure and CARE, who help children with a rare neurological disorder and help fight poverty, respectively. For more information go to www.jacobscure.org and www.care.org
